the remedies
GLONOINE / GLONOINIUM - when
suffering from hot air - i.e. shut inside vehicle or shed OR just over exerting
themselves on a hot sultry day.
SYMPTOMS --- Near unconsciousness with tremors and jerking,
possible involuntary evacuations.
BELLADONNA - When suffering
from direct rays of the sun.
SYMPTOMS --- Twitching, convulsive movements, much heat,
possible redness of skin.
OPIUM - When all else fails or
animal is found in this state.
SYMPTOMS --- Comatose / unconscious!
Now, I shouldn't tell you this and purists would hang me up, BUT if you have an
animal that's been shut in somewhere hot and it's pretty far gone, if you have both
GLONOINE and OPIUM give them both alternately.
DOSAGES
To make things standard and easier to apply we will stick to the 30th potency for all the
above homeopathic remedies. Two tablets are used for each dose. Give one dose every 10
minutes until signs of improvement. Then ease off to every hour until all danger has
passed. Alter the remedy if needs be.
Even before you rush for the remedies, get the animal outside and in the shade. Use people
as a screen if sun is high. Now start using the remedies and continue to do so. Then wet
the whole body if possible and keep it cool by using bags of frozen peas or the like ( use
your imagination - this is an emergency ! ) while you drive like the clappers to the vet.
Don't forget good old Bach's Rescue Remedy, a few drops directly on to the tongue
every 15 minutes.
It's a Sunday? In the middle of nowhere? Have you remembered to bring your
remedies? Then follow the instructions as best you can, make a breeze by fanning if
no water available, improvise! Start the remedies, STAY CALM and your pet could live
to see another day.

DOSAGE is 2
tablets.
Tip tablets straight from the bottle/container into a large spoon. Using
another spoon on top, gently crush to a powder. Tip this into the animals mouth
between lip and tongue. Do your best as it may not be easy with an angry critter. Remember
to improvise if conditions are not ideal. A page from a book to wrap the pill in and a
smooth stone to roll (crush), if that's all you have on hand.
Yes, you can just place the tablets onto the tongue but we are looking for fast action,
and powdered is faster.
Don't handle the tablets, and keep the lid well closed after use. If you drop any pills,
DO NOT return them to the bottle.
TINCTURES are usually diluted 1 to 10 in warm water. If otherwise, it will be
stated.
BACH REMEDIES AND HERBAL TINCTURES, use as directed on the container unless stated
otherwise.
HOW TO STORE REMEDIES
I prefer coloured glass bottles for my remedies and always buy them like this if I have a
choice. Nothing contaminates them through glass.
TABLETS
Store in a cool, dry, dark place, well away from things that are highly perfumed or
strongly flavoured, i.e. garlic, peppermint or Chanel No. 5!
TINCTURES
Store in the refrigerator or a cool place. Not easy when it's 90 degrees in the
shade.
BACH REMEDIES and HERBAL TINCTURES.
Store as above.
I think it's safe to say keep them ALL out of sunlight and direct heat.
ECONOMY CUTS
As it can be expensive to buy and not very practical to carry lots of first aid tablets,
why not share with like minded friends and neighbours. Buy some of those multi dose pill
cases and put say a dozen tablets of different remedies into each cell. DO remember to
label each one as you do it !!! They all look the same. Each month I shall be giving
you more First Aid remedies.
